Initial submissions
Two types of contributions are sought:
- Regular papers, 8 pages for submission, 6 pages for proceedings.
- Industrial abstracts, 2 pages.
These page limits are hard limits. Longer submissions will not be accepted. There will be no provision for paid overlength submissions (page charges).
All papers submitted to AUCC 2014, whether for review or publication upon acceptance, must be written in English and formatted in the standard 2-column format for IEEE Control Systems Society conferences. Initial submissions are accepted in both A4 and US letter paper formats, but final submissions must use the A4 paper format only.
- Follow this link for detailed instructions on how to prepare a compliant pdf file for submission to AUCC 2014. You will find LaTeX style files (the recommended option), MS Word templates and information about the correct settings to convert your LaTeX or MS Word file to compliant pdf there.
- Please use the online pdf compliance test with AUCC 2014 selected as the conference before trying to upload your paper.
- Papers must be submitted through the PaperCept Conference Mangement System (scroll down the page for the AUCC 2014 submission link).
- Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the conference and present their work. One (full or student) conference registration will be required per final submission. For details please see the AUCC 2014 conference registration policy.
Best student paper award
This award will be presented to a student whose paper is selected by the Awards committee. The award consists of a certificate and a cheque for AUD $500. Runner ups will be awarded a certificate only.
Eligibility: The accepted papers on which a postgraduate or undergraduate student is the first named author are eligible for the award. In particular, the first author should be enrolled as a postgraduate or undergraduate student on the date of the conference submission deadline. The student's supervisor should write a nomination letter confirming the student eligibility and outlining the reasons for nomination; the letter (emails are accepted) should be sent to the Awards committee chair, Michael Cantoni, [email protected] with a copy to the Program committee chair, Valeri Ougrinovski, [email protected].
Plagiarism policy
Each submitted paper must represent original work that neither has appeared or has been accepted to appear elsewhere for publication, nor is simultaneously under review for another publication, in its current form. If the submitted paper contains any of the (co)authors' previously published work(s) as a basis for the submission, the previous work(s) must be cited and indication must be given as to how the new submission offers substantive novel contributions beyond those of the previously published work(s).
In accordance with the IEEE Policy, all submissions will be tested for similarity and overlap with prior published material using the iThenticate tool. Results of such overlap will be made available to the Program committee for evaluation. In case of possible violations of the IEEE ethics rules in publishing, the case will be handled in accordance with the IEEE CSS guidelines and may be reported to the IEEE Control Systems Society Committee for Ethics in Publishing. The IEEE CSS guidelines for handling complaints on plagiarism are available here.
The AUCC 2014 Plagiarism committee is chaired by Dragan Nesic.
Final paper upload
For details on how to upload the final version of accepted papers, please go to the registration page.
Elevator pitch sessions and posters
Each interactive paper must be presented orally at the elevator pitch session preceding the interactive session to which the paper is assigned. Each paper is allocated a 2 minute time slot at the corresponding elevator pitch session. The presentation must consist of no more than two slides; one of them must be the title slide which must contain only the title of the paper and the authors' names and affiliations.
To ensure maximal compatibility, the slides for all elevator pitch presentations must satisfy certain compliance requirements.
- The slides must be prepared as a single 2-page PDF file, using the US letter paper dimensions, in landscape orientation (11 in x 8.5 in, or 279 mm x 216 mm).
- The PDF file must be checked for compliance using the PaperCept Conference Management System (choose the options AUCC2014, Elevator pitch presentation, initial submission for review). Your file must comply with all the shown PDF test requirements, except `Paper size' (the correct paper size must be US letter, landscape orientation) and `Paper margins'.
Posters must be printed in portrait orientation, and must be no larger than A0 paper size (841mm wide, 1189mm high). There will be Blu Tack in the room to secure posters to the boards. Pins cannot be used as the boards have a hard surface. We suggest that you laminate your poster.
